A Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, the Ondo State on Wednesday has affirmed Osun-elect governor, Ademola Adeleke as the authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded governorship election.
The appellate court upheld the judgement of the lower court which recognised Adeleke as the governorship candidate of PDP in Osun state.
It would be recalled that Dotun Babayemi, a PDP chieftain, had contested the party’s governorship primaries at the High Court, in Osogbo, challenging the validity of the primary conducted by the national leadership.
It would be recalled that PDP had held parallel primaries during its governorship primary elections on March 8.
Recall also that the primary election which was held at the Osogbo City Stadium, under the supervision of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa, Mr Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, as Chairman, produced Adeleke as the flagbearer of the PDP.
The other primary election which was held at the Women and Children Development Initiative Foundation (WOCDIF) Centre, Osogbo, produced Babayemi, as the candidate of the main opposition party.
However, the high court failed to recognize Babayemi as the PDP candidate.
Not satisfied with the judgment of the high court, he proceeded to the appellate court to challenge the judgment but the appellate court on Wednesday also struck out his appeal.
