C’Wealth Games: Team Nigeria Increases Medal Haul At Birmingham

Team Nigeria athletes had an incredible time at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games on Thursday, August 4 2022 as they clinched two gold, one silver and one bronze medal to increase the country’s medal haul to five gold, two silver and five bronze medals.

Folashade Oluwafemiayo broke the world record in women’s heavyweight powerlifting while Bose Omolayo won silver in the same category.

Women Para Discus thrower, Nwachukwu Chiemerie, won gold after she threw 34.84 to set a new World Record in the event.

Nnamdi Innocent also won Team Nigeria’s fifth bronze medal in the Para Powerlifting men’s lightweight category.

There were other positive results for Team Nigeria in other events as Abiodun Bode and Aruna Quadri progressed to the round of 16 in the men’s doubles against Team Cyprus.
