For Princess Folasade Femi-Lawal, it is celebration time. This woman of style, class, and panache is rolling out the drums as she hits the landmark age of Golden Jubilee and she is poised to celebrate in style.
To mark this auspicious occasion, FFL as she is fondly called by her teeming admirers will be celebrating with her friends and family at a Special Thanksgiving Service which will take place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David, Victoria Island Lagos where she is incidentally a member of the Church Choir.
FFL was born with blue blood running through her vein on Thursday, December 3rd, 1970 to Pa Folowosele Ajayi-Oromu of Ajayi Oromu Dynasty and Mrs. Tinuola Ajayi- Oromu, who hails from the ruling house of Owa Ajimoko of Ijesha land.
She began her educational life at the prestigious African Church Primary School and St. Margaret Girls Grammar School, Ilesa. At the schools, like the proverbial golden fish that had no hiding place, her outstanding academic brilliance, high sense of responsibility, and leadership traits set her aside from her peers.
These sterling attributes led to her being appointed as Head Girl and Senior Prefect respectively. This did not come to many who knew her as a surprise as these traits were passed down to her by both her paternal and maternal Grandmothers. Mama Gboregun the maternal grandmother was Yeye Lobinrin of Omoofe. She was such an 18th Century powerful woman leader in her days. Yeye Obikemi Ajayi-Oromu, her Paternal grandmother was an intimidating woman of her time also; well-known and feared amongst women and men of her time.
FFL’s academic brilliance continued at Obafemi Awolowo’s University where she bagged her degree, she later proceeded to the prestigious Harvard Business School. She belongs to many professional bodies, she is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and Enterprise Risk Professionals amongst others.
With a professional career spanning over 25 years, FFL cut her professional teeth at the Global Consulting Firm, Price Water house Coopers (PWC) as a trained Accountant where she passed her ICAN exams in flying colors. She then had a 3-year stint at Standard Trust Bank now UBA as the only female staff in the Inspections Department. Folasade was the pioneer Head of Digital banking and is currently transforming the ATM Card business in the industry where she has shown that she is arguably one of the brightest minds in the Banking Industry.
Her professional career also took her Econet Wireless as a Pioneer Head of Credit Control and later the Principal Analyst in charge of Commercial Directorate where she spent nearly 10 years before joining First Bank.
Due to her brilliance and pace-setting attributes, she is a well sought-after Conference Speaker and Panelist as well as Chairperson at Global and National events such as Annual Finance Tech in South Africa, Annual Global Finance Conference in the UK, Finnovex Digital Summit, & Women of West Africa Entrepreneurs (WoWe) etc. She is a Council Member for Gershom Lehman Consulting in USA and a member of the Esteemed Speaker and Advisory Panel for New Age Banking Summit.
FFL success is not limited to the academic and professional field. She can be likened to that virtuous woman in the bible.
She is happily married wife to Babafemi Lawal, her heartthrob of more than 25years, and an accomplished mother of 4 teenagers. She has been described by family and friends as a phenomenally resourceful, generous, loving, brilliant mind and a Super Mum.
FFL describes her relationship with God as a Priceless Treasure to her and she is more than happy to be branded an Apostle in the Market place. This is underscored by her passion in the coordination of Praying Mums, a 5,000 strong global community of Women where all women, single, divorced & married women find their happy place in Christ.
As this classy Princess from the Royal House of Owa Ajimoko of Ijesha land who is loved by many celebrates this milestone, we can only look forward to many more years filled with landmark achievement.
