Incumbent Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has won the tightly contested 2020 election for a second term.
He polled 6,730, 413 which is 51.59% of the total votes cast nationwide on December 7.
His closest contender, John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) polled 6, 214, 889 which gives him 47.36% of the total votes cast.
Jean Mensah, chairperson of the electoral commission of Ghana, announced the result on Wednesday evening. Mensah said the total valid votes cast were 30,434,574, representing 79 percent of registered voters.
