Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has constituted a State Account Allocation Committee (SAAC) to implement financial autonomy for the House of Assembly and the Judiciary.
Sir Charles Titiloye, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, made this known in a statement issued on Sunday in Akure.
“In line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as Amended) Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu constituted the Ondo State Account Allocation Committee (SAAC) on Dec. 31st, 2021.“The committee comprises representatives of the three arms of government in the state.
“They are the Commissioner for Finance, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Registrars of Ondo State High Court and that of Ondo State Customary Court of Appeal.
“Others are Secretary, Ondo State Judicial Service Commission, Mr. Jamiu Maito, two members representing the Ondo State House of Assembly, and Clerk, Ondo State House of Assembly,’’ he stated.
He added that the SAAC was to ensure compliance with provisions of the Constitution as regards financial autonomy for each arm of government.
Titiloye stated also that from the consolidated revenue fund of the state entitlements of the House of Assembly should be allocated to it while in the Judiciary, heads of the Courts concerned should be credited.
