The Lagos State government has approved Monday, January 18th as the resumption date for schools in the state.
In a statement from the Ministry of Education and signed by Director-General in the Ministry, Mrs Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, the date approval was given by the state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“I want to convey the approval of Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu that all public and private schools in Lagos State can still resume for the 2nd Term 2020 /2021 academic session with effect from Monday 18th January, 2021.
In view of this, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo wishes to enjoin all school managers to enforce strict compliance with all subsisting protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state. I wish you all a happy resumption and please stay safe.”
Recall that there have been concerns over the resumption of academic sessions in the country following a spike in the spread of the second wave of Coronavirus.
Many people have called for the government to delay school’s resumption over fears of children contracting the virus.
