In a bid at addressing the dichotomy between Bachelors In Science, B.Sc degrees and Higher National Diploma, HND Certificate Holders, the Lagos State University, LASU Ojo in conjunction with LASU Consult Limited are offering an HND/Professional Certificate Conversion Top-up Degree Programme.
Under this programme, HND holders can apply to LASU with his/her HND diploma and spend two years at LASU and upon the completion of the two years will be issued a Bachelors in Science degree from LASU. The programme is in its second year.
According to a statement from AMUNI, Mohammed Olayinka Esq, Registrar and Secretary to Council, the major aim is to enable HND/Professional Certificate holders to possess Degree Certificate.
“Lagos State University in conjunction with LASU Consult Limited hereby invites application from suitably qualified candidates for the Lagos State University 2020/2021 HND/Professional Certificate Conversion Top-up Degree Programme. The HND/Professional Certificate Conversion Top-up Degree Programme addresses the dichotomy between B.Sc and HND Certificate Holders. The major aim is to enable HND/Professional Certificate holders to possess Degree Certificate. Ultimately, the programme is designed to promote self-actualization and imbue professional fulfillment with dignity” the statement from LASU reads.
The available programmes include Accounting, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Insurance and Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. Others are Public Administration, Marketing, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Economics, Geography, and Management Technology.
Candidates who are seeking admission into LASU HND/Professional Certificate conversion top-up programme are required to visit www.lasu.edu.ng/portal for full details and admission requirements for each programme.
“Please visit www.lasu.edu.ng/epayment to make e-payment of a non-refundable fee of Fifteen Thousand [N15, 000:00] Naira to access the application form.
You are required to fill the form, upload credentials, and submit the form online, after which you will be invited for screening if qualified. An Acceptance Fee of Thirty Thousand [N30, 000:00] Naira and Medical Fee of Twenty Thousand [N20, 000:00] must be paid immediately” the statement added.
The closing date for the application form is Six  weeks from the date of this publication.
The statement also warned prospective candidates against paying into any individual accounts.
“Any candidate who pays money to any individual/other account or through other means aside from the one above, does so, to his/her own disadvantage. Prospective candidates are hereby requested to visit the University Website: www.lasu.edu.ng for details on the programme” the statement concluded.
