Mohammed, Sirika, Amaechi To Headline National Tourism Transportation Summit

Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika are some of the big names that will be on parade at the 3rd edition of the National Tourism Transportation Summit.

The summit with the theme: Repositioning Tourism and Transportation Mobility and Connectivity to Revitalize the Economy is slated to hold between December 7 -8, 2020.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Lead, Main Organising Committee – NTTS 2020, Shettima Abdullahi.

“Over the past two years, the event has enjoyed great participation of Ministries, Organizations, and individuals within and outside the country from the tourism; travel, transportation, and all related industries.

The 3rd edition of the National Tourism Transportation Summit and Expo was earlier scheduled for 27th to 28th April 2020 but was postponed due to, the COVID – 19 pandemic and the need to consequently reduce the risk of spreading the disease while complying with the government measures.

The postponement provided an opportunity for us to expand the involvement of more Federal, State Ministries and Agencies. We have 34 Federal Ministries and Agencies as members of the Inter-Ministerial organizing committee” Abdullahi stated.

At the summit, the Secretary to the Government, Federal Republic of Nigeria is expected to speak on the policy direction of the Federal government, Minister of Transportation, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi with the support of the Minister of State for Transportation, Honourable Gbemisola Saraki will delve into issues surrounding mass transportation while the Honourable Minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed will speak on the tourism and cultural sector.

The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika on his part will deliver a paper on the challenges, and progress of the Aviation Sector Road Map.

Other sessions will include keynote presentations from Captains of Industry, Transportation and Tourism experts, lead specialists and National International Organizations, and Agencies under the Federal Ministries of Transportation, Information and Culture.

The 2020 edition will consist of various events, including Summit and Expo, Awards, and Dinner/Gala Nite.

Recall that the Federal Government in the drive to reposition the economy approved during the 15th National Council on Transportation (NCT) meeting in Sokoto in August 2017 the collaboration of the Federal Ministry of Transportation and other Government and Non-Government agencies together with the private stakeholders across the transportation and allied industries, to work together to promote tourism and transportation owing to the importance of mobility and connectivity to national development and sustainable growth.
