As the Ogun State Government welcomes President Muhammadu Buhari to the state today to inaugurate projects, the state government has announced diversion of traffic on major roads across the state.
This was made known yesterday by the Commissioner for Transportation, Gbenga Dairo, during a meeting in his office in Abeokuta.
He said the newly-built Epe-Ijebu Ode highway, which is among the roads to be inaugurated, will not be available for vehicular movement from 7am to 1pm and advised motorists to stay off the route, but if necessary, they should make use of Ijebu Ode-Omu-Ketu-Epe Road.
Dairo said that the inauguration would start at the Epe-Ijebu Ode highway, noting that the Abeokuta Interchange Road would also not be accessible to vehicular traffic from 7am to 4pm.
He advised commuters moving on that axis to navigate through alternative routes.
“Commuters from Lagos to Abeokuta are advised to make use of the Lagos-Sango Abeokuta old road and the Mowe-Ofada- Papalanto-Abeokuta route. Motorists inbound from Ibadan to Abeokuta can make use of Ibadan-Omi Adio-Odeda-Abeokuta and Ogunmakin-Ajebo-Abeokuta road, while all traffic from the Ogun East to Abeokuta can come in through Mowe – Ofada – Papalanto – Abeokuta, Ogunmakin – Ajebo – Abeokuta routes,” he said.
During President Buhari’s visit, he will commission the 42km Sagamu Interchange – Abeokuta dual carriageway, the new Kobape Housing Estate, located on the Sagamu Abeokuta Interchange, and the first phase of Kings Court Estate, Abeokuta, developed by the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC).
