A national leader of the All-Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has canceled the ongoing 13th Colloquium Lecture in celebration of his 70th birthday.

Tinubu made the announcement at the venue of the event at Eko Hotel and Suites, while the event was about to commence.

The venue was already filled up with dignitaries such as governors, Senators, and the celebrant when Tinubu mounted the podium and announced the cancellation.

According to him, he woke up on Tuesday morning to the news of the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna rail attacks and was saddened by the ugly incident.

“Today is supposed to be the joyous 70th birthday for me. I thank God for being able to sustain me till today. I have just been informed of the sad incident in our country where over 60 people were killed on the Abuja-Kaduna rail. This is a very serious incident and it calls for sober reflection. For me to be enjoying myself here does not show signs of a statesman and senior citizen of the country.

The event should not be held. People should go home and pray. The event is hereby canceled. We pray for the souls of those who have departed,” Tinubu said.
